Axalta Coatings System is seeking a Coatings Development and Customer Support Chemist to work at the Mt. Clemens plant located in
michigan
.
Working under the guidance of a group leader, the individual will develop coatings formulas, provide technical support to manufacturing to scale-up the formula and provide field/customer support to launch and maintain the products on line at a customer assembly plant.
JOB
Responsibilities:
Development of coatings formulas using appropriate design of experiments and statistical tools to meet wet paint, film properties and application / appearance specifications as provided by the customer.
Scale- up and support of the formulas in the manufacturing area including establishment of specifications and test methods, fine tuning of the formula to allow first time OK quality, consumption of surplus and off-spec materials and problem solving to the area when appropriate.
Customer field support of the products in the customer's assembly plant. Specific areas include: participation in trials and extended launch programs to assure steady state performance of the products, problem solving as appropriate, and preparation of reports to the customer to assist in problem solving and communication throughout their plant and
engineering
organizations.
Ability to lead and / or be a significant contributor in cross functional teams to support manufacturing and customer production.
Requirements
BS Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with an interest in hands-on work to ensure a good understanding of the products and excellent performance of the products at the customer.
Ability to learn on the job and keep current in the specialized technology.
Flexibility in travel and technical assign ability
Well-developed technical writing skills
Effective problem solver.
Good interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work well in both self-managed and team environment.
